Bus Services
Readibus
Readibus is a bus service for people with restricted mobility in the greater Reading area.
It offers a door-to-door service and the buses are fully wheelchair accessible.
ReadiBus Shopmobility
If you have difficulty walking around the town centre, ReadiBus Shopmobility can provide you with an electric scooter or a manual wheelchair to shop, use and enjoy all the facilities of Reading town centre.
Simple to use
Just phone the number below to book your scooter or wheelchair. At the same time, you can book ReadiBus to pick you up from home and take you door-to-door. If you don't need ReadiBus, many local buses stop outside the Broad Street Mall. For car users, free parking is available for blue badge holders. Follow the signs to Broad Street Mall or look at the link in this section about Broad Street Mall Car Park.
Before you go out and about
You will be shown how to operate a scooter. Once you feel confident using the scooter you will be asked to complete a registration form. To register you will need some form of identification with your name and address on it such as a benefit book or utility bill. You will also need two recent passport photographs.
ReadiBus Service
The service is available seven days a week from 7.30am to 11.15pm across a large part of central and west Berkshire, including Reading, Newbury and Wokingham.
All you need to do is call the number below and say what you need. You book your journey in the same call and pay on the bus in the usual way. Fares range from £1.50 to £3.00 per journey. There is no other charge to pay. If you wish, somebody may accompany you on the journey.
If you find the service of benefit and wish to make the same journey at roughly the same time each week, you can join the weekly user scheme at no extra cost. This means the bus will call each week so you won't need to phone each time.
