Bikes and Trains

  • Bicycles are carried on the trains of all train companies operating on the National Rail network
  • They are carried for free on Thames Trains services and on many South West Trains services
  • There are, however, restrictions on trains arriving in London in the morning peak time and departing from London in the evening peak time
  • Other services usually have a small charge and require booking
  • Full details can be obtained from the National Rail Enquiry Service on 08457 484 950
  • There is more information in a leaflet, Cycling by train, available from rail stations
  • Compact folding bikes are carried free
  • Cycle parking is available at all rail stations in Reading, except Reading
