Transport Plans and Strategies

We want to make it as safe, efficient and pleasant as possible for residents and visitors to travel to, from and around Reading.

Reading's Transport Strategy is outlined in our Local Transport Plan (LTP) which draws together all of our transport policies and initiatives and outlines a programme which helps to tackle the issues inherent in our transport network, such as congestion, accessibility, road safety and air quality.

At the heart of our LTP is the aim to create a fully accessible and integrated transport network, which enhances the living environment and enables key services and facilities to be reached by all members of the community.

We are currently in our third LTP period (2011-2026).

From this page you can navigate to our LTP3 and the most recent implementation committee reports which measure our performance and detail the ongoing programme, as well as current sub-strategy delivery documents.

You can find documents offering updates on the major infrastructure projects and on the area action plans where study, consultation or infrastructure works are underway.  Transport Strategy also addresses the requirements of new developments.  Updates on major developments with transport implications and guidance for developers to follow when designing and agreeing the transport network to serve their development can be found via the Transport and Development Guidance link to the top left.
