Getting There

Reading Festival

Reading is home to the globally famous three-day music festival that takes place every year over the August bank holiday weekend. It is renowned worldwide for featuring the biggest and best acts of the contemporary music scene.

The festival first arrived in Reading in 1971 when it moved from Plumpton in Sussex. Reading was already hosting its very own Festival of Arts and this provided the promoter, Harold Pendleton, with an ideal festival site on the banks of the Thames. It is still on the same site over 40 years later, now organised by Festival Republic.
